January SEO Notes- The latest in the industry
New year, new SEO notes. The SEO industry, specifically Google, continues to change each month with bigger updates and more research.
Google Page Experience coming to desktop
An SEO company reports about this update because the mobile version of this update was launched in mid-June 2021. However, as Google continues to provide the best user experience for its searchers, it is now focusing on desktops.
The Google Page Experience- Core Web Vitals update is nothing short of new changes that are now requirements from Google; however, mobile changes were released, and the desktop version was put on hold.
In February, desktops will start to be monitored through this update. Google Search Console states, “We’ll be using page experience as part of our desktop ranking systems beginning of February 2022. The rollout will be complete by the end of March 2022.”
With the Core Web Vitals (CWV) updates, there are three main elements that all companies should focus on with their site- LCP, FID, CLS.
Based on these changes, here is how Google is measuring each part.
This means that the same three Core Web Vitals that are rolled out for mobile user experience will pertain to the desktop version update.

Unconfirmed update on January, 11, 14, 15, 19, 20, 22
Another change that an SEO company should have taken into consideration is the number of unconfirmed updates that showed an upset or downset to ranking. During the days of January 11, 14, 15, 19, 20, 22 of this month, Semrush, Moz and other SEO systems were reporting massive changes, and in many different industries.
In the SEO world, an unconfirmed update, or Semrush detecting a higher amount of activity than normal is a sign that there are changes happening in the Google SERP. While changes do happen every day that affect websites on a smaller scale, these predicted updates can hit harder on specific website pages or even niches.
An SEO company can’t predict the future, but with the desktop version of the Google Page Experience launching in February, one could guess this can have an effect on any website in any industry.
The bright side of this all- Google has confirmed they do not release an algorithm before the weekend!
While no one can predict these changes in their SERP, for those updates that will affect websites across the board in many industries, Google will release statements on this.
