Google Confirmed “Broad Core Update” Algorithm Update
What the tick? If you're like us or any of our awesome clients who we manage SEO for, you probably noticed last week that your organic traffic started fluctuating. Not uncommon but an obvious sign of a Google algorithm update.
Like the cool SEO'er you are you didn't let this affect you. You're used to it but you might have noticed some of your sites really took a hit, or really grew seemingly overnight.
Thankfully, SEO wizard Barry Schwartz went straight to the source and asked Danny Sullivan at Google if they can confirm an update and guess what? Sure enough, Danny confirmed an update.
Can you guys at Google confirm any algorithm update related to this chatter https://t.co/55H8jYw1IO @dannysullivan @JohnMu @methode @searchliaison

Danny went on to post on the Google SearchLiaison Twitter account "on Monday, we released a broad core algorithm update, as we routinely do throughout the year." "

Naturally, Google also confirmed rank fluctuations a lot of you have been tracking over the past month, or last few weeks (if you weren't paying attention).
Noooo!!??!!?!? My SEO Rankings Dropped!?! What Do I Do Now?
According to Google, nothing. Google went on to explain that "as with any update, some sites may note drops or gains." If you breathe and practice proper SEO then you will be just fine. According to Google, "there's nothing wrong with pages that may now perform less well," "Instead, it's that changes to our systems are benefiting pages that were previously under-rewarded,"
The short answer, according to Google, is nothing. "There's no "fix" for pages that may perform less well other than to remain focused on building great content," Google said. Our advice, as well as many others, is to simply wait it out and improve your overall site and "over time, it may be that your content may rise relative to other pages," Google says.
