2015 Top 25 Most Popular Passwords
It’s 2016 and we're all older and wiser than this time last year, right? Wrong! Point and case; here are 2015's most popular passwords. Doh!! Come-on people, we're smarter than this! Right? Right??
Each year the awesome analytical super-nerds (take no offense, we are all super-nerds here at MMG) at SplashData complies a list of the millions of stolen passwords made public throughout the year, then sort them in order of popularity. The results are based on a total of over 2 million leaked passwords . One would think we'd get smarter as the years progressed and we would get more complex with our passwords however the data tells us otherwise.
Can you believe that, “123456" and “password” still remain popular? We can't.
Without further ado, here’s the list. Sigh..

Internet Password Trends
Interesting enough and if you can get beyond the utterly "stupid" for a moment, sports-based passwords are still popular, with “football” and “baseball” both ranking highly. Following closely is the "blockbuster film theme" with the recent password additions “starwars” and “solo”. Obviously from the Star Wars franchises.
And who would have guessed that “princess,” which dropped out of the Top 25 last year, has made a resurgence. Also most likely or potentially linked to Star Wars.
Other new entires include “welcome,” “login” and “passw0rd”, also amusingly dumb.
If you already don't flat out hate yourself or the internet enough please feel free to check out the lists from 2014.
